Christmas is the most joyful time. It is the season we remember that Jesus was born into the world. God humbled himself to be born a human. Not just human but a human from a blue collar working class family, a carpenter’s son. That would be a construction worker today. Everyone had to travel to another town to pay their taxes no matter that they were close to delivering a baby. No filing taxes on the internet from the luxury of their cozy home. He chose to be born into a world with no modern conveniences like cars or refrigerators. His country was ruled by a foreign power, the Romans. There was no room for him in the motel, he was born in a barn and his mother used a feed trough for livestock as his bed.

This Christmas as you are wrapping your gifts and your kids are making out their lists to Santa remind them and yourself what the whole thing is about. Jesus is the reason for the season. We give gifts as a symbolic gesture to remind us of the gift He gives to us, cleansing our souls so that God can find us acceptable. This was no small feat. He had to die a horrible humiliating death abandoned by God for it to happen.

We love Christmas Trees and decorating them. We try to make them as beautiful as we can to symbolize the beautiful life that Jesus had and gave to us.

The evergreen tree is cut and brought inside to show the everlasting life of eternity that Jesus promises those who believe in Him.

We place the live evergreen tree in a bowl of water for the baptism cleansing us of our sins.

We start the decorating with lights symbolizing that Jesus is the light of the world, a world of never ending darkness were it not for Him.

We add red bulbs and crimson garlands to the tree to stand for the blood he gave for us.

We add colorful bulbs and decorations to represent the body of Christ. In other words, us the believers that are now grafted onto the tree of Life through our belief and faith in Jesus.

We put a star or an angel on the top of the tree to remind us of that angel that told of the birth of the Christ child. The star led the wise men and shepherds to worship Jesus in the barn.

We wrap gives in beautiful silver, gold and colorful paper to remember to greatest give Jesus gave to us, His life.

Some feel let down by Christmas because we may not have that family gathering like in the warm Holiday movies. Especially this year with the social distancing danger that lurks from traveling. Focus on giving this Christmas season lie Jesus did. He never looked at what someone was doing for him or giving him. He gave with love and joy. Let’s make this Christmas full of joy focusing on others rather than our own situation.

If you are lonely or isolated this Christmas remember that you are not alone. You have a loving God who came to Earth to give the ultimate sacrifice so that you will be His forever. You also have your true siblings in Christ who pray for your peace and joy from all over the world. Even if you are alone do something festive to show Jesus you are remembering His birth. Fix your minds eye on the joy the Jesus brings to us through accepting us into His Glory.

Here’s peace and joy to you, Merry Christmas!
