We have two choices in life: go for the light or the darkness.

Matt 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

In Mathew we learn that we are light and in John we see that those who love the darkness are hiding what they have done. We all have a choice and freedom to be and follow light or hide in darkness.

I believe that lack of joy and unhappiness comes from believing in light but following the crowd of darkness. Being incongruent with oneself.

We may think you will break someone’s heart for following the light. Is our Salvation, peace and joy worth losing for that person? Consider that they may follow us to the light as well. What if those around us are looking for an excuse to break with darkness to but they lack the courage. We never know who is watching us. More than we would ever suspect.

We can be brave to break from darkness. Let your light be seen. Sometimes things we would rather keep hidden have to show before we can truly shine but that is okay. This why Jesus came to cleans us and the world from darkess. So put on His righteousness and let your light shine to glorify Him. Let’s accept the joy and peace and freedom that He has to offer by living in the light.
