Spring is full of flowers, flowering trees and rain. We set out to see the Blue Bells in the Shanandoah River State Park. Keep a look out for the blog about that. It is a must see! Then we went on our way to Washington, DC to view the famous cherry trees in full blossom. Also a separate blog coming soon. They are beautiful but what was to be an entirely out door vacation became very soggy. With my sneakers soaked through I sought indoor entertainment. I discovered a little known attraction for those of us who had seen all the big stuff in DC, the O Museum. It is a treasure trove of a mansion in the historic Dupont Circle area complete with secret passageways!

Parking is a challenge here so we used a parking app called spothero to find a close reasonably priced parking garage. With the car parked and a switch to duck boots, we made our way through Du Pont Circle.

Located on O street, the O Museum is very intriguing from the start. First thing is a scene from Alice in Wonderland. I was ready to go down the rabbit hole.

This place is huge with thousands of things to look at. Each room, hallway or hidden nook is creatively decorated to a theme featuring art, musical and literary artifacts.

The introduction into the O museum.
This place is huge!

Spoiler alert! I may inadvertently give away a secret door or two. So, if you haven’t been there yet don’t look at all the pictures too carefully. I will put spoiler alert on the videos that may give away a secret door.

Spoiler alert. I found my first secret door.

This place was unusual and kept our interest and our bodies out of the pouring rain outside. Plus, everything is for sale. Imagine a museum with priceless artifacts that you can actually buy. Well, if you have enough money and space. The floral Jimi Hendrix Guitar was my biggest temptation however the guitars were the only items not for sale. Oh, well, I now know that not only was Jimi Hendrix my Guitar idol, but he must have liked flowers just as much as me! How cool can cool be!

Playing Pool at the O Museum.

So, site seeing can be tiring. We took a break to have a little fun playing pool. Suprisingly this museum encourages just hanging out and enjoying the atmosphere.

We took a load off in comfort.

I tested out all the chairs.

This kitchen seemed randomly placed in the Mansion. Maybe it had been a servant apartment or something. I was fascinated by the beautiful resin table encasing flowers. Wow!

Spoiler alert. We found a secret door that lead to what seemed to be an entirely different mansion.

Spooky!

This was my favorite room. The more you screamed the more things moved around and made spooky sounds. Too much fun.

Notice the guitar toilet seat. This museum is rock centered.

Secret Door Spoiler Alert

This kitchen floor was painted like a swimming pool. One of the shelves led to a secret room.

We said goodbye to the Jimi Hendrix Guitar 2nd from the right and headed back into the rain satisfied with our secret door adventure.
